Stolen Sharpie Revolution: A DIY Resource for Zines and Zine Cultures by Alex Wrekk is an essential resource on zines. I’ve written about it before and here I am writing about it again. Why? Because there’s currently a Kickstarter running to support the next printed edition. A resource like this must always be updated to keep up with the ever-changing scene – lists of libraries, centres, stores, events, etc. It’s valuable for every kind of zinester or anyone interested in the topic.
The fifth edition will be ethically printed with vegetable-based inks on 100% recycled paper and bound with animal-free glue by Oakland-based 1984 Printing, as the previous edition.
Backing the Kickstarter could get you copies of the book, special Sharpie markers, a record made by a zine-themed band Copy & Destroy and much more.
Check out the Stolen Sharpie Revolution Kickstarter. Full disclosure, my cat Samson is featured in the video with my old copy at 1:19!
