Baby’s first Paperchase order

paperchase

And perhaps my last.

I like what I got, but the items weren’t exactly what I perceived from the website, it’s double the price for me in Canada (hoooraaay) AND I was hit with $25 in taxes once it made its way over the border. It’s too bad, there are a few more items I’d like, but they’ll have to wait until I go back to London someday!

So here’s a little overview of what I got.

Summer Odyssey air balloons tall slim notebook

The Summer Odyssey air balloons tall slim notebookThis is my favourite of the purchase. It’s light, a great slim size, and has a pocket in the back. It’s meant for travel, and I’ve got just the use for it. I’ll be taking it with me on my trip to the west coast next month. I can’t wait to fill it with my experiences. Someday I’d like to get the airmail/passport pattern one.

Bird typewriter hand-stitched journal

Bird typewriter hand-stitched journal

The bird typewriter hand-stitched journalI was really excited about this pattern! A bird carrying a letter to a typewriter surrounded by flowers and a teacup! Come on! But I guess I failed to notice that the cover is cloth, sequined, stitched, and the typewriter is puffed out. Not my style at all. I don’t go for those kinds of embellishments. Plus, it’s really heavy. Still, a pretty notebook. They also have a stationery set in the same pattern.

Kraft foil padfolio

The Kraft foil padfolio. For some reason, I thought this would be half its size because of the picture on the site, but this is also one of those times of thinking “I’m not going to check what 315 cm equals to in inches.” Despite this, I am still excited to use the padfolio for portable letter-writing.

Kraft recycled A4 document file

The Kraft recycled A4 document file. Ditto on the size issue. Plus, from the picture, I thought there were accordion-type folders inside. Silly me! It’s also quite heavy for a cardboard box. But I’m already brainstorming uses for it, like portable letter-writing, to fit a pencil case, notepads and more in if I just want to go to the park for a bit to write a reply. Plus, I can use it as a hard surface to write on. It’ll also be good for carrying zines or papers I can’t bend.

So, kids, the lesson of the day is: pay more attention to product descriptions before hitting “order.” This is still a lucky instance (minus the fact that I’m still grumpy over paying even more via taxes). I can’t wait to start using these! And someday, I’ll see the store itself, I hope.
